No surprise bills. Pro is a flat $15 a month — no metered overage, no per-call charge. If you burn through 50,000 calls before the month is out you drop to free-tier speed (100/day) for the rest of the month, or top up — but you are never billed more than $15 without choosing to. An agent stuck in a loop costs you nothing extra.
Koot: what Pro adds
Koot lives at https://koot.datakoot.com/mcp. Its briefing tools (brief_stack, brief_company, brief_domain, brief_place) each do the work of many lookups and answer in one line. Free gives you 5 briefs a day to try it.
With Pro, briefs are unlimited and Koot Watch switches on. Tell Koot your packages once (or paste your package.json) and the companies you follow (tickers like TSLA or AAPL). From then on it stays quiet unless something new happens: a vulnerability in your stack starts being exploited in the wild (CISA's Known Exploited list) or gets a high exploit probability (EPSS 10% or more), or one of your companies files with the SEC, with 8-K material events flagged first. Ask koot_whats_new at the start of a session, or give Koot a Slack or Discord webhook and it checks once a day and posts there by itself. Pro's first month is free.
Agents that hold their own wallet can also pay per brief: $0.01 in USDC on Base through x402.datakoot.com (one brief runs many lookups, so it costs five calls' worth). No account, and charged only when the brief succeeds.
Pay per call with x402
If your agent holds its own wallet, it can skip signup entirely. Every tool on all nine servers is available at x402.datakoot.com for $0.002 a call ($0.01 for the security and package tools), paid in USDC on Base through the open x402 standard. The agent gets an HTTP 402 with the price, signs a payment, and retries. Datakoot verifies the payment, runs the tool, and settles the payment only if the tool succeeds, so a failed call is never charged. Each paid response carries the on-chain transaction hash as a receipt. How it works →
What counts as a call
One tools/call — one question your agent actually asks a server — counts as one call. Connecting does not count, and neither does listing the available tools, so you are never billed for setting Datakoot up or for an editor probing the server in the background.
The free tier is counted per caller per UTC day and resets at midnight UTC. Paid allowances are counted per billing month against your key, and are shared across all nine servers rather than being nine separate buckets.
Watching your usage
Every metered free-tier response — from all nine servers — carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers, so you can watch the meter move without logging in anywhere. Pro has no daily cap to count down against, so those headers are absent on a paid call; your running total for the month, your key, and your invoices live in your account portal.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need an account to try it? No. The free tier is keyless — paste one line and your agent is connected. An account only exists so we can bill you, which only matters once you want more than 100 calls a day.
What happens the moment I hit 50,000? Nothing breaks. You drop to free-tier speed — 100 calls a day — for the rest of the billing month, or you can top up for more. You are never cut off mid-task and never billed a surprise overage.
What happens if I stop paying? You drop to the free tier. Nothing is deleted and your account stays. Re-subscribe whenever you like.
Can I get a refund? Yes — email hello@datakoot.com and say so. Pro also starts with a free month, so you can find out whether it is worth $15 before paying anything.
Pro or pay per call? Pro is simpler for a person: one card, one key, a flat $15. Pay per call suits an agent that holds its own budget: no account at all, and 1,000 calls cost $2 ($10 for security or package tools).
Who am I buying from? Datakoot is a one-person company. Pro payments and invoicing are handled by Polar, who act as merchant of record. Pay-per-call payments go straight to Datakoot's wallet on Base. Support email goes to the person who wrote the servers.
